Virtual physical therapy and coronavirus FAQ

virtual physical therapy FAQ

At Holland Physical Therapy, we are more committed to patient health and safety than ever before during the ongoing coronavirus and COVID-19 pandemic. One of the ways we’re responding to the increased call for social distancing and self-isolation is to offer virtual physical therapy sessions, or remote physical therapy for patients in addition to our in-clinic appointments.

We’re sure you have many questions about this new approach to physical therapy, which is why we’re happy to share the following guide to frequently asked questions (FAQs). We also welcome you to reach out to our team at any time if you’d like to learn more or have any additional questions or concerns.

What steps is Holland Physical Therapy taking to deal with coronavirus and the COVID-19 pandemic?

Holland Physical Therapy has been closely following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to refine our procedures and provide safeguards in response to the coronavirus outbreak. As the situation evolves, you can expect further updates on our response. Virtual physical therapy is an optimal method of service delivery with the current situation as it helps reduce exposure to the virus, particularly for older and immunocompromised patients.

Am I able to schedule an in-person appointment at this time?

As an essential health care service, our clinic remains open for in-person appointments. Our team has implemented precautionary steps to keep both our patients and our staff safe. You can call our clinic at (616) 355-4284 or reach us via email at info@holland-pt.com.

Is it possible to work with my regular therapist in virtual physical therapy sessions?

While we’ll do our best to accommodate this request and provide continuity of care, we’re currently operating under special staffing requirements. This means you might be scheduled with someone different than your regular therapist.

What should I do if I need to cancel my appointment?

Please contact us. In this ongoing situation your health and safety is our priority. We may be able to reschedule your appointment as a virtual virtual physical therapy session.

What is virtual physical therapy?

Virtual physical therapy uses an online device, like a computer or tablet, and an internet connection to allow you to connect by video conference with a licensed therapist. With a few differences, patients can receive the same experience they would receive from an in-office session.

How much will virtual physical therapy sessions cost?

Virtual physical therapy is covered by most insurances as it is with an in-person visit. You can also cover your services with credit and debit as well as Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) payments for Medicare, Medicaid and self-pay patients.

What do I need for a Holland Physical Therapy virtual session?

We want to keep your virtual physical therapy appointment as simple as possible. Here’s all you need:

  • An internet connection
  • An online device, such as a tablet, laptop or desktop computer, or smartphone, that has a webcam and microphone
  • A compatible and updated internet browser
  • Comfortable clothes that you can move around in
  • An open, well-lit space to perform exercises and movements, as directed

If you have any questions or want to learn more about virtual physical therapy, don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our representatives. We’ll be happy to help you schedule a consultation.
